How easy is it to install?
We’re made installation as easy as we can. Currently, we’ve implemented a fill-in-the-blanks interface that will generate a customized ProLinkz script that works with your particular server configuration right off the bat, dramatically minimizing installation hassles.
We can’t completely shield you from all things technical, but we have provided complete, easy-to-follow instructions with the scripts you generate that even beginners can comprehend.
If you need further assistance, a free online support forum is available. An installation service is also provided for a nominal fee if you really don’t want to do it yourself (contact us for more information).

I don’t have my own domain. Can I still use ProLinkz?
I don’t have my own domain. Can I still use ProLinkz?
ProLinkz is custom-generated for each domain name (e.g., yourdomain.com) or subdomain (e.g., sub.domain.com) it will be used on. If you have neither, you’ll need to find someone willing to host your script or pay a professional hosting company.
If it’s not there already, we will be posting links to recommended hosting services online that you can check out.

Does ProLinkz work on a Windows NT server?
ProLinkz is a Perl script designed primarily for Unix servers. Although no NT-specific version is available, many NT users have successfully modified ProLinkz to work on the NT platform. Instructions for manually modifying ProLinkz to work on NT will be made available on this site soon.

How many links can be set up and tracked?
We have no idea. If you’re looking for “unlimited,” there is technically no such thing (think about it). ProLinkz’s specs are right up there with the best of them. But not only is it not recommended that you fill it up with links to capacity (whatever that is), you wouldn’t want to anyway, assuming that you can even get there. Forget degraded performance; managing such a humongous collection of links would be a nightmare.
It’s not a practical concern anyway since you can install multiple copies of the script, each with its own group of logically-related links. Much better for your sanity.
So the answer is, “As much as you can handle.”

Buy/License
-
How much does it cost?
ProLinkz used to sell for $45, but now it’s totally and absolutely free to use following the terms of the license agreement.
-
Can I sell or rent out user “accounts” to copies of the ProLinkz script hosted on my domain or subdomain?
Sure, why not, as long you comply with all the terms laid out in the license agreement.

Why is ProLinkz now free?
Competition mainly.
A large number of our customers have purchased and benefited through the years from ProLinkz’s ability to “customize” or mask URLs while still being able to use one’s domain name to do so (instead of routing the link through an external service)… which has apparent SEO benefits. All have also benefited from ProLinkz’s very convenient, fast and real-time click counting and traffic tracking features as a result, but most originally sought ProLinkz’s link cloaking features.
Recently, a number of link cloaking (and nothing but link cloaking) PHP scripts and Javascript products (fee and free) have appeared which, understandably, have taken away a lot of ProLinkz’s initial apparent benefit to users… especially since we charged $45 for its use. Although we still had a few customers coming in who needed ProLinkz’s tracking features, we were faced with a few business options:
• Raise the price to cover support costs for the fewer customers seeking ProLinkz’s click and traffic tracking features.
• Lower the already low $45 price to see if we could attract enough customers to maintain a minimal market share and remain viable.
• Make ProLinkz free, thereby giving everyone link cloaking and the powerful additional benefits of click traffic tracking — something our competition doesn’t offer — providing free support through our site’s online forum, which would be sufficient for most users. Users who need additional support can arrange for it for a fee.
We went with free.

I purchased ProLinkz. Can I get a refund?
Thank you for your purchase. You’ve also had benefit of ProLinkz’s use for a period of time that current “free” users did not.
Your question is understandable, however, so here’s the deal: If you purchased ProLinkz after July 31, 2007, we will give you a full refund after you provide us with proof of purchase (Clickbank date and receipt # should be sufficient). Just contact us with the needed info, and after we’ve confirmed everything, we’ll issue you a refund!

What are .ZIP files and how do I work with them?
A .ZIP file is one that uses the very popular ZIP data compression and archiving file format. A regular file included in a .ZIP file is made a lot smaller, so it takes up less room and less time to send and receive online. .ZIP files can also contain multiple files, making them very convenient for distributing sets or groups of related files, like the ProLinkz scripts you generate.
You will need special software on your computer to “unzip” .ZIP files to your hard disk (and to do other things, like create them). There’s no shortage of them around. Here are links to two popular ones:
